December 13, 2012 Did You Know for Sunday December 16 2012 3rd Sunday of Advent

Welcome to the NEW Moyock UMC. We are so glad you decided to join us this Sunday. We’ve been expecting you! We truly hope that you will experience the Fresh Wind and Fresh Fire that has ignited this congregation. Our God is an awesome God and we are being obedient to Him. Ask a church member to tell you the rest of the story. We hope you will come back and join us in the weeks to follow. We are In ministry together and we need you to help us Serve in His name right here in our Community.”

Thank you Church for all you do and for your kindnesses and support of our church ministries, especially during this Christmas season. Susan and I love you so much. We love this church and thank God for just letting us be part of what He is doing right here, right now. Bless you all. What a blessing it was to give Currituck Kids a check for $600.00, to sing at 2 nursing homes and to deliver meals and gifts to so many. Thank you.

What is Advent Pastor Bill. I know it is started A FEW Sundays ago? Advent is a season of waiting, expecting, and hoping. Beginning four Sundays prior to Christmas and ending on Christmas Eve, Advent helps us prepare for the coming, or “advent” of the Christ child at Christmas. (The word “advent” comes from the Latin word that means “coming.”)

The Colors of Advent:
Purple has traditionally been the primary color of Advent, symbolizing repentance and fasting. Purple is also the color of royalty, demonstrating the anticipation and reception of the coming King celebrated during Advent.
Pink (or rose) is also one of the colors of Advent used during the third Sunday. It represents joy or rejoicing and reveals a shift in the season away from repentance and toward celebration.

White is the color of the center Advent candle, representing purity. Christ is the sinless, spotless, pure Savior. Also, those who receive Christ as Savior are washed of their sins and made whiter than snow.

Christian Education: Sunday School Classes are going on each Sunday. Join us any Sunday at 9:15 am. New Classes start in January 2013. Tom Santa: Luke and being a witness, Charlie book of Romans and Mary’s class will continue with their current book.

I am second has started. Are you prepared to share your story when someone asks?
