hat Is Advent anyway? Good Question.
Advent is a season of preparation for the coming of Christ: preparation to celebrate Jesus’ birth at Christmas, to receive faithfully the risen Christ who comes to us in Word and Spirit, and to await with hope Christ’s coming in final victory. The word Advent means “coming.” Our greatest challenge friends is to make Advent a time of expectation for Christ’s coming to be with us, you and me, NOT a frantic time of meeting secular demands and expectations of the season. Shalom to each of you this Advent season.

transformed Christian:
Is fully devoted to Jesus
Pursues a biblically informed view of the world
Is intentional and disciplined in seeking God’s direction
Worships, with a spirit of continuous repentance
Builds healthy human relationships
Senses a personal call and unique gifts to serve
Is merciful and generous
Appreciates that suffering is part of faithfulness to Jesus
Is eager and ready to express his or her faith
Overflows with thankfulness
Has a passion for reconciliation.
And you could possibly add more: like
Stays in the Word of God, Bible reading and study.
Attends and participates in worship,
Willing to witness in the marketplace. Wears the I am second wristband!,
Prays, …and Prays some more.

What can you add to this conversation?
aving a meeting, practice or gathering at church: Please consider these ideas: Did you think to pray to open and close? Did you lead a short devotional from the Upper Room sharing the Word of God? Were you sensitive to new folks or old friends and their need for Spiritual Healing? Many in our church are suffering. All these things should come before a meeting, practice or gathering gets underway. It is all about a Relationship with Jesus and not Religion.

orship: Starting on Sunday January 5th we will focus on Worship. Read Luke24: 13-35 to see the foundational elements of New Testament Worship. Can you identify them from the story.

The four walls (verbs) around which we plan our worship service are:

Can you identify these elements in today’s worship service? We suggest that you keep a copy of each weekly issue of Did You Know on file and use them to review and grasp what God truly wants us to do when He calls us here to Worship. Of course you could come to Bible Study on Wednesday night starting in January 8th at 7 PM and learn even more about worship..
